1 December is #GivingTuesday 2020 and on this occasion Humanists International invites its supporters to make a small donation that will be used to make a difference to hundreds of humanist organizations and individuals all around the world.

Since 1952 Humanists International has been the global representative body of the humanist movement, uniting a diversity of non-religious organizations and individuals. As of December 2020, we have hundreds of Members and Associates in more than 60 countries across the globe.

Our vision is clear. We want everyone to live a life of dignity in a world where universal human rights are respected and protected, and where states uphold secularism. We work to build, support and represent the global humanist movement, defending human rights, particularly those of non-religious people, and promoting humanist values worldwide.

On 1 December, to mark #GivingTuesday 2020, you can help us to fulfill this vision by making a small donation to our organization. We know how hard it can be to contribute in such difficult circumstances and we fully understand you if you cannot help us at this time. But rest assured that, no matter how big or small, your donation will make a difference.

We will put your donation towards:

Supporting the growth and development of humanist organizations around the world

In 2021 we aim to award over $160,000 USD in grants to our Members and Associates in developing countries, to fund their projects for the advancement of humanism globally

Advocating for human rights for everyone, everywhere

We will keep representing the humanist movement and promoting humanist values at the United Nations and other international bodies – in 2019, for example, we delivered 19 statements at the UN and two at the OSCE

Protecting humanists at risk when threatened by religious fundamentalists

In 2020 alone we have received 150 requests for help from individuals at risk and we have assisted 64 of them; among those cases stands out the one of Mubarak Bala, the President of Nigerian Humanist Association, who has been detained arbitrarily without charge for more than 200 days.

We believe that humanism is for the sake of all human beings, regardless of their religion or belief. Please help us in our endeavor by making a small donation in either USD or GBP.
