Police Behaviour in Nuremberg (1982)

  • Date / 1982
  • Location / Germany
  • Ratifying Body / World Humanist Congress
  • Status / Archived

The International Humanist and Ethical Union, assembled at its 8th World Congress in Hanover, Federal Republic of Germany, August 1-5, 1982, considers that the extraordinary behaviour of the police at the demonstration of young people and social workers of an autonomous youth centre in Nuremberg on March 5 and 6, 1981 and of the law courts in the ensuing arrestations, detentions and legal proceedings, is a flagrant example of the anti-humanist trends in our society.

Even more so because to this day, after almost a year and a half, there still is the considerable pressure of legal action against the 141 arrested people on these people themselves as well as on their parents and relatives, who are still forced to live in complete uncertainty.
