IHEU records with gratitude an anonymous donation of £25000 received by IHEU and the International Humanist Trust. IHEU is in discussion with the donors and the funds will be applied for strengthening IHEU’s infrastructure and for international projects.

IHEU is also grateful to its Specialist Member Organisation the Institute for Humanist Studies (IHS) for its grants of US Dollars 38,000 in 2004 and USD 35,000 in 2005 to help build IHEU’s capacity. This enabled the hiring of a Director of Operations whose brief is to manage IHEU’s office, ensure compliance, strengthen internal financial and administrative controls and to service the IHEU Membership as well as the Executive Committee. Suresh Lalvani, a qualified Chartered Company Secretary and Accountant, was appointed IHEU’s Director of Operations in 2004 and his contributions have strengthened the IHEU’s work and efficiency.

In 2004 IHEU also received USD 40,000 from the Appignani Foundation to help support the IHEU-Appignani Humanist Center for Bioethics at the UN in New York. Ana Lita Ph.D, a professional philosopher, was appointed Director of the Center in 2004 to lead IHEU’s efforts in Bioethics.
