As can be read elsewhere in this newsletter, at the last General Assembly, IHEYO granted membership to several organisations. Every new member will present itself in one of the next YouthSpeaks. Today, we give the floor to a new consultative member from the capital of Scotland.
The Humanist Society at the University of Edinburgh (HSUoE) aims to establish a positive social environment for UoE students who are rationalists, non-theists (agnostics or atheists), humanists, or skeptics; to enrich UoE campus life by sponsoring educational events and fostering student dialogue on matters of faith, science, and reason; as well as to engage students in issues of national and international import surrounding freedom of conscience and secular education.
The HSUoE has more than forty members in its first semester of existence (Autumn 2007) and meets twice weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We are affiliated with the Humanist Society of Scotland, the Humanist Academy, the Center for Inquiry, the Secular Student Alliance and now also IHEYO. In the spirit of Internationalism, we hope that our activities can be linked to the international projects run by IHEYO.
