Lobby Day – Washington, DC – 9 June 2008

  • post Type / Campaigns
  • Date / 14 April 2008

The Secular Coalition for America has announced a Lobby Day to follow the 2008 World Humanist Congress. The Lobby Day will be an ideal opportunity for U.S. citizens to influence their elected representatives.

On Monday, June 9, 2008, come join us for Secular Coalition for America Lobby Day, a wonderful opportunity to make your voice heard in Congress. Our visits to Capitol Hill will be conveniently scheduled to follow the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) 17th World Humanist Congress – American Humanist Association (AHA) 67th Annual National Conference in Washington, D.C.

During last September’s Lobby Day, the Secular Coalition for America helped nontheist constituents from around the nation educate their elected officials on issues important to our community. It was a huge success. Amber Kelleher, one citizen lobbyist visiting Capitol Hill with the Secular Coalition for America, influenced her Senator to become a co-sponsor of the Prevention First Act of 2007, which mandates medically accurate sex education over abstinence-only-until-marriage programs.

You, too, can bring your values to the halls of Congress for a direct impact on legislation affecting all Americans. Your participation on June 9th will help to further increase the visibility and respectability of nontheistic viewpoints and protect the secular character of our government. Don’t miss your chance to be a lobbyist for a day. The key ingredient is you.

Sign up for Lobby Day – deadline May 9th

We look forward to seeing you in June.

Best wishes,
Lori Lipman Brown, Director
Secular Coalition for America
