Notice of IHEU General Assembly 2008

The IHEU General Assembly 2008 will be held in Washington, DC, USA, in conjunction with the 2008 Congress, on Thursday 5th June (9.30 am to 5.30 pm) and Sunday 8th June 2008 (2.30 pm to 5.30 pm). Forms to register for the General Assembly, make nominations to fill the two Vice-President vacancies on the IHEU Executive Committee and propose resolutions for the GA and/or the Congress are available here.

  • Registration for the General Assembly: Everyone attending the GA must submit a registration form by 4 May 2008, emailed to – so that all delegates can receive the final mailing of agenda and papers for the GA – which will be sent out on 6 May 2008. Please note that registration for the Congress is not sufficient – for GA attendance, a separate registration form is needed. Delegates also need to book their accommodation directly with the hotel.
  • Nominations for elections to the IHEU Executive Committee must be received by IHEU 30 days before the General Assembly (i.e. by 6 May 2008) at the latest – emailed to . The nominating organisation must complete a form and the candidate must complete an acceptance form. There are two Vice-President places available for nomination and election.
  • Resolutions for the Congress Plenum: The deadline for Congress resolutions has now passed. Member organisations were asked to submit resolutions for the Plenum of Congress to be received 90 days before the Congress (i.e. by 7 March 2008). In order to attend the Congress, separate registration is required at www.americanhumanist.org/conference
  • Resolutions for the General Assembly: The deadline for GA resolutions has now passed. Member organisations may submit items for discussion or resolutions for the General Assembly, emailed to – to be received 60 days before the date of the GA (i.e. by 5 April 2008).

Membership Organisations (MOs) are asked to send a one-page report of their activities in 2008 to by 4 May 2008, which will be circulated in the GA mailing. Any received after that date will not be circulated. MOs will not be required to give verbal reports at the meeting.
