Humanist conference in Kenya, May 8 – 9

An IHEU-sponsored conference in Nairobi will provide a national platform for dialogue and reflection on the need for Humanist organisations in Kenya to come together and form a single body.

Date: 8th and 9th May, 2010.

Venue: Shaurimoyo YMCA, Nairobi, Kenya.

Theme: Developing Humanist Cohesion: Issues and Solutions.

Sub-themes:

  1. Best practices for dealing with threats to Humanist cohesion so as to ensure solidarity.
  2. Identification and articulation of the sort of values and norms that should be promoted amongst all Humanist organisations in Kenya.
  3. Theoretical perspectives on social cohesion, human rights, and Humanism in East Africa and the world at large.

Call for papers: Abstracts of 300 words addressing the broad theme of the conference, along with a short bio, are invited for submission by 24 April 2010.
