The Romanian Secular Humanist Association (ASUR) celebrated Darwin Day 2012 by inaugurating a unique contest dedicated to Romanian school students. ASUR, a member organization of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), launched the National “Emil Racoviță” Contest on the theme of evolution. It targets all school students in Romania from ages 10 to 18.

The best projects entered in the contest will be rewarded with more than 130 computers, as well as books, magazines and free admissions to the Geological Museum.

The contest will take place between February 12 and June 1. More than 500 teams from schools across Romania are expected to participate. Along with ASUR, the contest benefits from support from the University of Bucharest, Romanian Geological Institute, National Geographic Romania and the largest science-news portal in Romania, Scientia.ro.

The more than 130 computers made available as prizes for the best themes were donated to ASUR by System Plus, HP Gold Partner.
