The International Humanist and Ethical Youth Organization(IHEYO) has chosen Taiwan, Province of China to host their annual Asian Humanism Conference in Taipei. This is the first time the conference will be held in an East Asian nation. Local groups Taiwan Humanism Studio and Taichung Atheists, Freethinkers, and Humanists, with the aid of the Ming Capital Education Association, will help organize the conference on behalf of IHEYO.
The 2016 Asian Humanism Conference will bring together humanists from humanist and freethought groups throughout Asia as well as locals in Taiwan, province of China. The conference will be held on August 6-7 at National Taiwan University (NTU) in Taipei, Taiwan. This year’s theme is Asian Humanism: Old and New, Timeless Solutions for Modern Problems.
Speakers at this year’s Asian Humanism Conference will include local leaders as well as internationally known authors..
The logo for this year’s conference was designed to look like the Chinese character for humans (人). It was designed by a Singapore-based humanist and it is hoped by the conference organizers that it will become a new symbol of humanism as it spreads into the Chinese speaking world.
