The visit commenced on November 11 in Kisumu, with members of the Kenya Humanist Alliance. During the visit, Javan delivered a critical thinking workshop for the organization’s younger members.
Moving onto Nairobi for the subsequent two days, Javan met and deepened connections with the leadership of the Atheists in Kenya Society and Kenya Humanists as well.
These engagements offered an opportunity to learn more about the achievements of Humanists International’s Kenyan members, while also providing a platform to discuss challenges and to strategize for the future.
This visit to Kenya, as part of a wider visit to Africa, exemplifies Humanists International’s dedication to fostering collaboration, dialogue, and development within the global humanist community.
Dans Onyango Odhiambo, President of Kenya Humanist Alliance, said:
Kenya Humanist Alliance would like to give thanks to Humanists International for organizing a meeting with our team. Indeed, it was an honor meeting the Membership Development Officer, Javan Lev, and having an interactive engagement for the two days. The visitation made Kisumu City to be on a global humanists map, as a place that can host humanist activities in the future.
Javan made our youthful members love humanism through his presentation on the history of humanism to modern-day humanism. The interactive critical thinking sessions kept everyone awake with everyone laughing and enjoying the puzzles. As a team, we really appreciate the entire management led by Gary for all the planning and implementation of this great event.
Brian Khabeko, from Kenya Humanists, commented:
The collaboration with the Humanists International officer was an enriching experience, amplifying our local humanist organization’s global perspective and outreach efforts.
Javan Lev Poblador, the Membership Development Officer of Humanists International, added:
I’m truly grateful for making this trip. It gave us a deeper understanding of our members and the flourishing humanist movement in Kenya. I have witnessed the remarkable growth of our members in these regions over the years with Humanists International has been truly inspiring.
