This conference, organized by IHEU, IHEYO, the Global Alliance against untouchability, the Society for Humanism Nepal (SOCH) and the National Dalit Commission of Nepal, was a continuation of the first World Conference on Untouchability, which was held in the UK, in 2009, ahead of the UK Parliamentary Initiative on outlawing discrimination on the basis of Caste. The main objective of the conference was to bring together politicians, academics, human rights activists, jurists and victims to devise global strategies to address the immense challenge that Untouchability poses to the world.
IHEYO organized the regional Asian Humanist Alliance (AHA) meeting and helped organize the training that was held during the conference. IHEYO supported the travel of 6 international humanist leaders from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Indonesia. All together, there were participants from 7 countries into the AHA meeting.
The financial support IHEYO gave came from Hivos, the Dutch humanist development agency, as part of a three year programme to keep fostering and building international and regional collaboration among humanist youth organizations in Africa and Asia.
