The International Humanist and Ethical Union, assembled at its 8th World Congress on “Anti-Humanist Trends: Challenge and Response” in Hanover, Federal Republic of Germany, August 1-5, 1982,
considering that the International Humanist Ombudsman will expose and counteract violations of human rights and liberties, particularly of people who are not members of a church,
welcomes the institution of the International Humanist Ombudsman as one of the important means of counteracting the anti-humanist trends as identified by the Congress.
