An invitation
We are inviting a small number of committed humanists to do something lasting: to become a Patron of the Amsterdam Circle.
When you give £100, US$100, or €100 a month, you give the non‑religious a voice at the United Nations. You keep the record of the laws that silence them. And you help new humanist organizations take root where they are needed most.
The Circle is being founded in 2026 — and we would be honored if one of its first patrons were you.

What you make possible
Voice
You give the non‑religious a voice at the United Nations in Geneva and New York — where blasphemy and apostasy laws are challenged by name.
Evidence
You keep the Freedom of Thought Report going: the only annual account of the laws affecting the non‑religious in every country on Earth.
Growth
You help new humanist organizations take root, especially in the places where being non‑religious is hardest.
Connection
You hold a global movement together — from the World Humanist Congress to year‑round support for humanist leaders on six continents.
The Name
Why “Amsterdam”?
In August 1952, humanists from around the world gathered in Amsterdam and founded what is now Humanists International. That congress adopted the Amsterdam Declaration — the defining statement of world humanism, renewed by the global movement in 2002 and again in 2022.
The Amsterdam Circle takes its name from that founding moment. It belongs to no single country and no single organization: it is a circle drawn around the whole global movement — and around the people who sustain it.

Becoming a patron
£100 · US$100 · €100 per month
— or a 1,200 annual gift in your currency, as a personal or household gift.
As a patron, you will receive:
- A place each year at the patrons’ reception with the President and Chief Executive.
- Two private briefings a year — the story behind the headlines, direct from the Chief Executive.
- The Freedom of Thought Report in your hands before its public launch.
- Your name in the Annual Report and online — or complete anonymity, exactly as you prefer.
- A named contact on the staff, and a yearly letter from the President on what you made possible.
Take your place among the founders
Commit before December 31, 2026 and you will be recognized, permanently, as a Founding Patron of the Amsterdam Circle.
Online giving in pounds, dollars, and euros is being finalized. In the meantime, speak with the Humanists International team.
The Amsterdam Circle is a donor recognition circle for individual supporters. Humanists International is a federation of humanist organizations; patrons do not acquire membership, voting rights, or any role in governance. Public recognition is with consent only, and full anonymity is always available. Gifts may be eligible for Gift Aid in the UK or tax deduction in the US.
