The project utilized a series of five Tagalog-language animation videos to address sensitive issues including blasphemy, secularism, feminism, and LGBTI+ rights in a local context. These short, light-hearted animations were designed to be approachable and were distributed across HAPI’s social media platforms, such as Facebook and YouTube, accompanied by English subtitles and supporting social media cards.

Problem/Issue:
The project challenges harmfully dogmatic beliefs, heteronormativity, and patriarchy in the Philippines that lead to the discrimination and persecution of secularists, women, and the LGBTI+ community.

No. of beneficiaries: 31,369

Impact:
The project successfully initiated open dialogue among Filipinos regarding traditionally taboo topics, with social media engagement ranging from curious inquiries to debates. Direct impact was noted in personal testimonies, such as a beneficiary who used the video on LGBTI+ individuals to discuss societal pressures with their family. Additionally, the animations served as the first exposure to humanist values for community members during HAPI events in Bulacan.

The organization observed that while significant effort was invested in animation, static social media cards achieved similar engagement levels, suggesting they are a highly digestible format for their audience.
