Humanists Brazil – Introduction to secular humanism

Humanists Brazil is creating a free, 20,000-word e-book as an introduction to humanism and their organization. This book, the first on secular humanism in Portuguese, will explain their background, values (science, human rights, etc.) and goals. They hope to build a base of supporters by giving away the book in exchange for email addresses.

Problem/Issue:
The project aims to solve the problem of confusion about humanism in Brazil. The main issue is that there’s a lack of clear information available, leading to misconceptions about what Humanistas Brasil promotes. People often confuse it with Catholic humanism or humanistic psychology.

Impact:
The e-book has been downloaded 24 times at time of posting. The project has generated enthusiasm – a reader volunteered to translate the book into two additional languages, and the owner of a large Brazilian atheism website reached out after becoming a humanist himself and proposing a collaboration to spread the message further.
