Filipino Freethinkers has been advancing humanism and secular values since it was founded in 2009. In 2019 Filipino Freethinkers has been awarded with a Regional Hub grant to produce a travelling vodcast called “Hello Humanists!“, interviewing humanist activists from South-East Asia. Between 2019 and 2020, Filipino Freethinkers organized five Café Humaniste events on the following themes:
Filipino Freethinkers will host an Online Asian Humanism Conference in 2021 to continue Humanist International’s tradition of advancing humanist solidarity across Asia, adjusting to the new remote reality introduced by COVID-19.
Although the activities will be done through the remote format, Filipino Freethinkers aims to use the latest technology, as well as passion and creativity, to host an event that not only tries to emulate an in-person conference but also takes advantage of the unique strengths of an online format. Talks, workshops, and discussions will still be done, but co-creative and unconference style methodology will also be integrated to ensure that activities are inclusive and that participants take ownership of the results, bringing new energy and commitment to spreading humanism to their own spaces well after the conference has concluded.

There’s another way the effects of the conference will be felt after the event itself. Through the talk and discussion recordings, activity outputs, video interviews, photos, and other multimedia, we can gather content that can be enjoyed at any time both on the Freethinkers and Humanist International websites.
