This project involves the production and staging of a satirical street play
titled “Huérfanos de la Patria” in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima’s most populous vulnerable
district. The play uses humor to portray the story of a transport worker confronted by a
double-standard politician using religious rhetoric, aiming to promote critical thinking and
civic education ahead of upcoming general and municipal elections. It will be executed
through seven live performances, educational matchbox distribution with QR codes, and
digital amplification reaching online audiences.
No. of Beneficiaries: 700
Problem/Issue: Political candidates frequently exploit vulnerable voters in San Juan de
Lurigancho using political clientelism and conservative religious rhetoric during election
periods.
Impact: The street play will reach 700 live attendees and 4,000 online viewers to
build critical awareness of political manipulation, reduce stigma against non-believers, and
empower citizens to demand accountability from local authorities.
