Noting that the United Nations has designated 1975 as International Women’s Year,

Aware that the Declaration of Human Rights states that everyone is entitled to all rights and freedoms without distinction of any kind; and “Considering that discrimination against women is incompatible with human dignity and with the welfare of the family and society,” the International Humanist & Ethical Union approves and supports the objectives of the International Women’s Year as set by the General Assembly:

“To promote equality between men and women”

“To ensure full integration of women in the total development effort”

“To increase the importance of women’s contribution to the strengthening of world peace”. and: urges its member organisations in their respective countries to initiate, develop and support programmes of education, and to promote legal, political, and social actions toward achieving these goals of equality, development and peace.
