World disarmament campaign (1981)

The Board of the International Humanist & Ethical Union, meeting in Luxembourg in August 1981, concerned with the implementation of the proposal contained in the Final Document of the United Nations’ 1978 Special Session on Disarmament to which 149 member states put their signatures, expresses its unanimous support for the objectives of the World Disarmament Campaign, which are:

1. The mobilisation of people in every country to give expression to a demand for comprehensive disarmament,
2. The promotion of alternative measures for ensuring world security, other than the nuclear weapon deterrent, And urges all member organisations and individual humanists to promote the Campaign’ objectives.
